Halal Trip @ Japan

Konnichiwa minna-san!

117 days back from Osaka, i am finally here to update my dusty blog. I apologized for the sudden MIA. I've been busy with my first half of freshman year.

As a muslim, one of our main concern will definitely be the food. During my previous Japan trip, it was quite hard to find a halal food stall near our home stay. It is super hard to find a food with a legit halal logo. So for the sake of surviving throughout the seven days, we ate some food by checking the ingredients. MAKE SURE IT IS FREE FROM PORK AND ALCOHOL. Although they do have quite a number of halal restaurant, but they are located so far from each other and extremely EXPENSIVE. So here are some of the halal and alcohol free food&restaurant we manage to visit during our trip. Hope it helps and ease your trip as well :-)

note that some of the food are not halal certified by the authority, so please do eat with your own consent.

the food rate is based on my personal preferences only.

1) Shinshu Soba Sjibo

Located at 3rd floor Kansai International Airport. It is certified by the Malaysian Halal community as well. The restaurant setting is so Japanese and clean. Unfortunately it doesnt suit my melayu taste. I only managed to finish quarter of the plate. I cant remember the exact price but consider it expensive for a plate of soba and fritters as side dishes.

Rate : 2/10

2) 7 ELEVEN Beverages

There are a lot of 7 eleven stores around Osaka, almost every lane in the town. However there are no legit halal logo at the beverage packaging. Please do check the ingredient before purchasing.  Price for the food in 7 Eleven is affordable. But no kidding guys, the butter bread is so soft and delicious.

For onigiri, we bought ONLY THE SEAFOOD BASED onigiri because we are unsure of the halal-ness for the chicken and beef onigiri.

Yakult in Japan is way way way more better than the one in Malaysia! Trust me! and the packaging is a little bit bigger too!

3) Creo-Ru Dotonbori

One and only halal certified takoyaki in Dotonbori. Highly recommended. I dont fancy these kind of food in Malaysia but Creo-Ru is exceptional :p

Rate : 20/10

4) Butter Beer & Strawberry Slushee @ Universal Studio Japan

No worries, its not a beer. Its an alcohol free drink. Drink it to be a certified wizard. Zazzzzzs!

Rate : 9/10

A perfect drink after a long journey around the studio. But too bad, it is extremely sweet

Rate : 5/10

5) Ayam-ya

Located in the city of Kyoto. Very close to the Nakamura Tokichi Kyoto station. The stall is just a few steps beside APA Hotel. WAJIB PERGI!!!! sangat sangat wajib. The food is dabomb!!!!! Prayer room are also provided which i believe that is one of the reason why it is so popular among muslims customer, be it local or foreigners. and guess what, we went back from Osaka to Kyoto just to have its ramen for lunch.

Rate : 20/10

spicy ramen. super super super nice.

6) Naan Inn

Located in Kobe, Japan. It serves authentic Indian cuisine, very delicious but sooooooo EXPENSIVE. A very popular spot for Malaysian and Indonesian travel group especially among the executive&corporate trip. As you can see the wall are full with notes&wishes from the customer.

Rate : 7/10

7) Kitano Grocery Store

8) Pablo

Pablo is literally everywhere in Japan especially the mall. So it is a convenient and ready to go meal whenever you are hungry. Hands down for the best cheesecake in town!

Rate : 10/10

9) Sanuki Restaurant

This restaurant is located in Kansai International Airport, 2F. What is more interesting is, it is certified halal by JAKIM. So worry not.

They have  many selections of delicious Udon and tempura. For someone who doesnt like eating japanese food (sushi is an exception), i honestly think Sanuki's food are fulfilling.

Rate : 9/10.

10) Kebab Stop

We didnt manage to eat here because it was closed the whole week (?) But if you happened to come to Osaka, this is one halal food stall there. It is one of the small shops along the road heading to Shinsekai Tower.

11) Babul Hayat

Located inside the Tempozan Mall beside Kaiyukan Aquarium. We planned to have our lunch here but unfortunately, overpriced. almost RM100+ per person. (varied based on the currency on that particular travelling time)

12) The-life saver-vending machine

13) Kobe Halal Food Store

Similar to Kitano Grocery Store, it provides halal raw ingredients for the muslims living in the middle of Kobe. There are a plenty choices of instant mee as well :-) It is advisable to come and shop here if u plan to stay more than a week for food supply purpose.
